Lip Blush Healing

Many clients’ first question when they ask about lip blush is “What is the healing process like?". Healing a lip blush tattoo takes between three to seven days. Clients are given an aftercare kit to ensure that their healing goes as seamlessly as possible. After the procedure, the body produces lymph fluid as an inflammatory response to getting lip blush. Clients are instructed to dab their lips with a damp cotton round to take off the fluid and immediately apply ointment. This is repeated on the second day of healing as well. The more often this is done, the less scabbing could form.

Day 1 (Right after the procedure): Lips appear bold and brighter than what it will heal to. It will heal between 40-60% lighter and softer. Lips will be slightly swollen and tender. Color will darken (oxidize) as the day goes on.

Day 2: Lips are darker and may still be a little swollen. Lips are feeling tight and dry.

Days 3-4: Skin is flaking and scabbing and the color is fading.

Days 5-6: Lips start to feel normal and the flaking is gone.

Day 7: Lips have completely healed but the color is much lighter than after the procedure.

Day 28-42 : The color has come back! There may be some uneven spots/patchiness and between 6-8 weeks is the perfect time for a touch-up/perfecting session!
